Kentucky Football is 1-1 to start the season after squeezing out a week one win over Toledo and falling just short against No. 20 Ole Miss this past weekend.
On defense, the Wildcats have looked pretty strong at times and it’s pretty clear that unit can contend with teams in the Southeastern Conference.
However, it’s the Kentucky offense that needs a shot in the arm — and then some.
Fans will give themselves a headache just thinking of all the offensive miscues that Kentucky went through on Saturday
against Ole Miss and they didn’t look much better against Toledo the week before.
Most of that blame can be put on the shoulders of Stoops, offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan and a few other members of the coaching staff.
However, transfer quarterback Zach Calzada has not blown people away in his first two starts either.
Calzada has looked rushed and uncomfortable in the pocket during his first two starts and wasn’t even able to finish the game against Ole Miss due to a shoulder injury that did not look very good.
Cutter Boley came in — ice cold — off the bench Saturday in the middle of the fourth quarter and was asked to put Kentucky in a position to win the game.
While Boley only completed one of three pass attempts for 38 yards, he at least stood in the pocket and made throws with confidence/stood up against some heat from the Ole Miss defensive front.
Calzada’s shaky start to the season and now his shoulder injury leave the question of Boley possibly making a start against Eastern Michigan on Saturday night at Kroger Field.
Would you like to see Boley have a chance to lead the offense? Either way, the former Lexington Catholic star may very well have his number called in just a handful of days.
