Payton Talbott may have punched his ticket to a top 5 matchup earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 3, 2026) at UFC 332 LIVE on Paramount+/CBS from inside Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the rising bantamweight contender dominated former UFC champion Deiveson Figueiredo with a first-round TKO (punches).
Talbott was coming off a sensational performance against former UFC champion Henry Cejudo, but still needed to prove himself against stiffer competition at 135 pounds. While Figueiredo is past his prime
at 38 years of age he’s still a tough task for most in the bantamweight division. For Talbott, a matchup with Figueiredo looked like a walk in the park.
Over the course of two minutes, Talbott landed practically everything he wanted to. His long range and shot selection looked better than ever as he hurt Figueiredo with straight punches, elbows, and combinations along the cage. Figueiredo eventually toppled along the fence and allowed Talbott to unload heavy ground-and-pound for the TKO stoppage.
After his win, Talbott took his time on the microphone to call out former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley. The two were briefly linked to a fight on UFC’s White House card, but it now makes more sense than ever.
