Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with Jordan Henderson, who had officially become a free agent earlier today.
The 36-year-old midfielder left Brentford by “mutual agreement” as confirmed by their official website this morning, halfway through the two-year deal he signed with them last summer.
“[We] agreed that we would sit down after the World Cup and decide what the targets would be for both the club and Jordan in the second year of the contract. Following those conversations, it was
clear that Jordan’s preference was to try something different in the final years of his playing career. We had always said to him that, should that be the case, we would not stand in his way.”

And that different will be a stint at Chelsea. As per Fabrizio Romano, Hendo will put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Blues “this week”.
Henderson will be the second veteran player to join Xabi Alonso’s squad after Danny Welbeck. Their combined age of 70 will not only raise the squad’s average age by quite a bit, but should, in theory, add some much needed leadership qualities into the dressing room.
