1. MOISÉS CAICEDO (5.6)
These are very generous ratings for one of the worst games we’ve seen in a long time, especially given the nature of the occasion with the rivalry, the history, the meaning behind it.
But, in a way, the players and their ratings were saved by the early season — a bit like how referees usually are more lenient with cards early in games. Xabi Alonso’s honeymoon has certainly ended however.
Caicedo ran about a lot, and threw himself around a lot as he’s wont to do. But at the end of the day, that was
just another aspect of our disjointed play as we were overran in midfield.
2. PEDRO NETO (5.5)
Some might have expected to see Neto deployed in attack after the injury to João Pedro, but he was still at wing-back for some reason (even with both Marco Palestra and Malo Gusto fit and on the bench).
To his credit, he had one of our better chances of the game, and he even tracked back to help Josh Acheampong on occasion.
3. LEVI COLWILL (4.9)
Our defense was done no favors by the setup, but it was hardly a stellar performance individually from any of the back-three. Still, they did just about manage to keep a clean sheet … until being undone by a random error and a headrush.
