Bayern in talks with Konaté’s camp (Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl and Julian Agardi)
There is a lot of uncertainty about what happens with Bayern Munich’s backline next season and the Bavarians are not going to just wait around until Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae sort out their respective situations.
If Upamecano decides to stay, he could be reunited with former RB Leipzig teammate, Ibrahima Konaté:
Bayern are in contact with the management of Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract at Liverpool expires next summer. The Frenchman is an option for Bayern in case Dayot Upamecano were to leave
the club. Konaté’s camp is speaking to Bayern, Real Madrid and PSG. The fact that he knows the Bundesliga and that he will be a free agent in the summer makes him an attractive option for Bayern.
Bayern Munich has also reportedly been talking to Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi. It is very clear, if Upamecano or Kim opt to leave, Bayern Munich has a list of established contacts they can lean on to fill the void.
Alaba still wants deal with Real (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Former Bayern Munich star David Alaba has been linked to both Charlotte FC and New York City FC in MLS, but the Austrian would like to stay at Real Madrid longer if possible:
🚨⚪️ David #Alaba is fighting for a new contract. He remains a leader within the team and is still very popular. However and as revealed on Monday, it currently seems very unlikely that Real Madrid will extend his contract beyond 2026.
He would be a free agent. The 33 y/o defender is not thinking about retiring yet.

Bayern Munich will be traveling to Berlin to square off with The Iron Ones in a match that — on paper — seems like just another team that the Bavarians should dominate.
However, there is at least some risk. Going on the road, just before an international break, and being weary from a super intense match against Paris Saint-Germain could be dangerous. Some would even say this could be a “trap game,”
Bayern Munich, though, could be out to prove it is “trap proof.” So, let’s discuss it all right here — this is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:
- What to watch for with Union Berlin.
- A look at Bayern Munich’s injury situation.
- A guess at Bayern Munich’s starting XI.
- A prediction on the match.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on Bundesliga sensation Said El Mala, sources have told Football Insider. FC Koln winger El Mala has been a breakout star this season with four goals and two assists in nine Bundesliga appearances.
The skillful attacker’s performances have brought him onto the radar of Europe’s top clubs, with Premier League trio Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea big admirers of the 19-year-old. Last summer, El Mala signed a new long-term deal with FC Koln, which runs until 2030, and has so far proved his worth during his first season with the Bundesliga side.
El Mala was also selected to Julian Nagelsmann’s latest squad for the German national team.
