The Knights had another solid week, splitting a competitive road series in Jacksonville against the Jumbo Shrimp (20-19).
Outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr., 32, built on his strong start to the season with a huge week. Wade went 6-for-14 with a homer, eight walks, four RBIs, and he swiped a base in his only stolen base attempt. After this fantastic series, Wade is slashing .245/.408/.400 in 33 games this season, all with the Knights. Wade’s ability to get on base in Charlotte could go a long way towards his push to return to the majors.

The Barons struggled immensely in Knoxville against the Smokies (18-15), scoring only 16 runs (2.67 per game) and dropping five of six.
The offense underperformed across the board against Knoxville, but the Barons did manage to get one win, and it was largely thanks to starting pitcher Jake Palisch. Palisch, a 27-year-old left-handed pitcher, pitched six excellent innings on Thursday to propel Birmingham to its lone victory. Palisch only allowed one run on five hits. In addition, Palisch was very efficient, needing only 85 pitches to make it through the six frames. The Barons proceeded to win by a score of 4-1, and without Palisch’s quality start, the Barons could have been swept.

Once again, the Dash Player of the Week award was a tight race between infielders Colby Shelton and Caleb Bonemer. This time, however, Shelton, 23, came out on top. Shelton only had four hits, but he did a lot of damage, finishing with a .911 OPS. Infielder Alexander Albertus, 21, who mainly plays third base, is off to a fantastic start to the season. Albertus provided solid defense while crushing a pair of doubles and getting on base quite often. Albertus played a large role in the Complex Sox’s 1-0 victory on Friday. During that game, Albertus went 2-for-3 with two doubles and the only RBI of the game.
