Real Madrid hope to reactivate talks to renew Vinicius Jr. during January, but according to Cadena SER, the situation remains largely unchanged despite Xabi Alonso’s departure. While the club believes negotiations may now be easier, Vinicius continues to seek a salary of around €30 million net per season, in line with Kylian Mbappe.
Speaking on Cadena SER, Toño García played down the impact of the coaching change. “It really looks like this is going to be a saga. The player hasn’t had a good time
with the whistles. No player likes being booed by his own fans in his own stadium,” he said. “That’s why, for example, yesterday we didn’t see him celebrate the goal with them. He’s upset, he’s annoyed.”
García added that nothing concrete has moved since Alonso’s exit. “They tell me there’s been no offer and no approach after Xabi Alonso’s departure,” he said. “The relationship wasn’t great, but there isn’t a meeting planned with the club either.”
On Madrid’s proposal, García was blunt. “He has the renewal offer from Real Madrid, but it doesn’t satisfy him.” He stressed that emotions won’t rush a decision. “Neither the whistles have influenced him negatively, nor yesterday’s applause positively. He’s not going to make a decision in the heat of the moment.”
Antón Meana offered reassurance. “This is not like the Ramos offer, which expired,” he said. “Madrid believes the contract will be signed at the end of the season and that it will suit both parties financially.”
