It’s Monday, and we are back at it! Fresh off a weekend of football games, there was a lot of action! News will continue to come your way, and we are here for it all. Check out our original coverage and what we can find from the World Wide Web below.
CFP moves close to one January portal window.
This announcement came at the end of last week, although the official vote will take place sometime this month. Coaches have wanted one portal window for a while. However, the move to a ten-day window in January is not without its flaws and concerns.
For starters, many schools will begin the spring semester during this window, meaning it would be difficult to add transfers in time to enroll for classes. Also, less time to decide could mean less players decide to transfer, but it could also mean more players enter the portal if they are on the fence. The positive for this would be that most schools would be able to finish their season and bowl games before the portal opens. Hopefully, that changes the trend of teams being short-handed for bowl games.
Broncos bounce back at home.
A home game against an FCS opponent is just what Boise State needed to find their footing. The offense was adamant about establishing the run, scoring three plays into the game, all via the run. The Broncos’ offense had its way through the air and on the ground, totalling 637 yards. The defense put in a much better effort and energy, and although it was a step down in quality of opponent, it was nice to see them bounce back. On the other hand, special teams still appear to be an issue.
Fresno State takes down Oregon State.
Next year, this will be a conference game, but in 2025, it was a nice OOC win for the Bulldogs in the Entz era. The biggest difference in the game was special teams. The Beavers had to use their third-string long snapper and missed on all of their extra points or two-point conversions. Meanwhile, Fresno State kicker Dylan Lynch made three field goals and the rushing attack was once again on point, led by Rayshon Luke and EJ Warner.
Rebels move to 3-0 with win over Bruins.
What a turnaround over the past few weeks for the Rebels. After nearly losing to Idaho State in their opening, Dan Mullen’s squad has looked like a different team in all the best ways. They dominated Sam Houston and were in complete control over Big Ten opponent UCLA this weekend. The offense was humming along once again, beating the Bruins through the air and on the ground. QB Anthony Colandrea threw three touchdowns and passed for 203 yards to go along with 59 rushing yards. UNLV does continue to pile up penalty yards, with 322 over three games.
Rams comeback in a wild ending.
Colorado State trailed for 59+ mins of this content, going ahead late in the game, but that was far from the last memorable play. A costly roughing the passer penalty on 4th gave Northern Colorado new life and they capitalized with a touchdown. However, that TD was reviewed and overturned. Then DPI on 4th down game the Bears once more change, but the pass was picked off in the endzone. Was there enough evidence to overturn the TD? It’s broken down here.
