Day 5 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place on Monday, August 3.
Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report – Day 5 (8/4/26)
1. First Day in Pads: The pads were on for the first time this year. Before practice, head coach Todd Monken elaborated on the expected degree of intensity:
2. Targeting Fannin: On the first throw of competitive drills, QB Deshaun Watson (first team) connected with TE Harold Fannin:
3. Gabriel Follows Advice: If it worked for one guy, keep going to him. QB Dillon Gabriel also connected with TE Harold Fannin early. Speaking of Gabriel, Monken was asked before practice if he’s earned more reps. Monken indicated that anyone who plays well will earn more reps. Whether it was true or not, some reporters noted that Gabriel saw more action on Day 5.
4. Concepcion Continues to Shine: The play of the day came when QB Shedeur Sanders connected with WR KC Concepcion on a deep post route:
Later on, the two connected again, this time with Sanders hitting Concepcion over the middle.
5. McNeil-Warren’s Playmaking: The playmaking ability of S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren continues to shine early in camp. Here he is in 7-on-7s using his speed to dive and break up a pass by QB Shedeur Sanders.
6. Working on the Quick Passes: In early drills, you can see WR Isaiah Bond catching a pass and simulating bouncing off contact from padded defenders.
The play was put more into action later, as Concepcion took the quick pass and then worked his magic.
7. 90 Second Situation: Cleveland concluded practice with the top two quarterbacks running 90 second drills. On QB Deshaun Watson’s reps, the offense went four-and-out, with Concepcion hurting his shoulder on the final play.
QB Shedeur Sanders, on the other hand, led a touchdown drive, capped by throws to WR Tylan Wallace and WR Gage Larvadain (for the touchdown).
8. Brownies: LB Carson Schwesinger is dealing with a minor injury, and missed his second straight practice. … While OG Teven Jenkins continues to miss practice, OG KT Leveston continues to take his place. … OG Jack Conley has also gotten some reps in there … CB Myles Bryant exited practice early with the training staff.
9. Up Next: The Browns will practice on Tuesday at 1:30 PM ET. It will be open to the public. I am hoping to make it for my annual in-person training camp report.
