The past 48 hours have been overwhelming for both the Mariners and their fans. Clinching both a playoff appearance and the American League West division on back to back nights means that there has been much rejoicing throughout the city. The most passionate partying has, unsurprisingly, been in the Mariners clubhouse itself. And the best part? There were photographers there to capture it all.

We at Lookout Landing, and I personally, have said many things about Dan Wilson’s managerial style and decisions.
But while he may not be the greatest tactician in the league, he is the right man to lead this club in this moment. Horatio Nelson, the most famous and acclaimed leader of mariners in history used to say “never mind the maneuvers, just go straight at them.” Not a complicated plan of attack, but it worked for Nelson, and it works for Wilson. Soak it in, Dan. You deserve it.

I feel comfortable in saying that the Seattle Mariners would not have won the AL West if not for these two men, Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez. Their acquisition at the trade deadline immediately revitalized the clubhouse and both of them showed up and produced over the last month and a half, despite Geno’s slump. For Eugenio, it’s a return to the ballclub that he helped take to the postseason three years ago. And for Josh it’s an affirmation of his value as a player. “Wherever I go,” he can tell himself, “we can go to the playoffs.” Here’s to both of them finding a home in the city that loves them.

This is a two-fer with Cal. First, him grinning and holding his champagne bottle with nefarious intent. Next:

He pours it all over someone else. It goes without saying that Cal Raleigh has been the standout Mariner in the 2025 season. These pictures were taken after he hit his 59th and 60th home runs, something no catcher and only 7 MLB players have ever done. But if you ask him about it, as so many have, he seems almost bashful. His humility shines through in every interview and press conference. He’s always the first to pass credit on to his teammates and the front office. I wouldn’t say he’s uncomfortable in the spotlight, but he certainly doesn’t want to be alone it. And just as he shares the credit, he shares the champagne.

Randy Arozarena is no stranger to the postseason. He first achieved national attention in 2021 when he stole home during the ALDS for the Rays, and reached the playoffs with Tampa Bay again in 2022 and 2023. Now, for the first time, he gets to play in the postseason with his new team. But even though he’s been here before, he’s going to party as hard as he can. That’s Randy for you. And we love him.

I am so happy Jorge Polanco gets to be here for this. After a lackluster 2024 campaign, the 31 year old has regained his stride in 2025, and the bounce back has been so fun to watch. His home run last night in the division clincher, his 25th of the season, is just the punctuation mark on what has been a fantastic regular season. And judging by how soaking wet his Division Champs t-shirt his, the team is glad to have him too.

When will people stop doubting Julio Rodriguez? Through his four MLB seasons, at ages 21-24 he’s hit 112 home runs for the Mariners, hit for 129 wRC+, and accumulated 21.2 fWAR. By all of these metrics, he’s the second best center fielder in baseball across that span, behind only Aaron Judge (who’s more of a right fielder now anyway). Julio deserves every second of this celebration and every drop of champagne in beer on him.

Ok we’ve been serious long enough, let’s get to the crazy ones. Victor Robles, hero of last weekend, absolutely housing the funnel beer is obviously the standout but not to be missed here is rookie Harry Ford getting in on the action and Andrés Muñoz who lowkey looks a little frightened by Victor’s enthusiasm.

The Stone Cold Steve Austin clip is legendary, but he only drinks maybe a third of each can in it. Cal, on the other hand, is getting all of it.

Bryan, please. Save some aura for the rest of us.

Bryce, buddy, you wouldn’t have any beer in your eyes if you wore the goggles that are on your head. Just something to consider.

If we were handing out superlatives today, we’d award J.P. with Best Champagne Spray. And judging by the smile on his face, he knows it.

And Geno would get runner up.

This, I hope, will be one of the defining images of the 2025 Seattle Mariners. A group of young, outstanding players (including George Kirby going to town on a cigar in the background) who are reveling in the pure joy of their accomplishment. And now they’re just a handful of wins away from being the last team to pop champagne this year.

We’ll leave you with this photo, taken by LL alumnus Isabelle Minasian after last night’s division clinching win. It features Lookout Landing Deputy Manager John Trupin picking up fellow alumnus Zach Gottschalk and throwing him around like a ragdoll in celebration. For we as fans get to share in the joy and the partying as much as the Mariners themselves. Soak it in folks. It’s your win too.
