2/18-2/24 Spotlight: Adrian Myers
A native of Stephens City, Virginia, Adrian Myers has had quite the journey throughout his basketball career. Measuring in at 6’7” with the ability to hit outside shots and defend on the interior, he was ranked as a top 300 recruit in the 2023 class. Originally committing to mid-major Rhode Island, Myers eventually caught the attention of Mississippi State. With a chance to play in the SEC, he switched his freshman year plans and headed to Starkville to join the Bulldogs.
Even with ten upperclassmen
on the roster, Myers saw the floor in ten games in his debut collegiate campaign. Going 4 for 11 from the field with five rebounds total across ten games, it was a solid start to his time with Mississippi State. Unfortunately, he fell out of the rotation for the 2024-2025 season, not seeing any action and redshirting. With three years of eligibility remaining, Myers decided to look for a new home by entering the transfer portal. After a month of biding his time, he was officially announced as the newest addition to San Jose State.
It’s been an odd year for the Spartans, who currently sit at 8-20. The injury bug has followed them throughout this season, forcing head coach Tim Miles to lean more and more on his top players. Myers has risen to the occasion, averaging a career-high 10.1 points and 4.3 rebounds, but more importantly, he’s become a man possessed over the last two weeks. Beginning with his first ever double double in San Jose State’s upset of Nevada, the Virginia product has put up 26 points a night over the last three games. Not only that, but his 34 point outburst against Air Force on Tuesday is the most any Spartan has scored all year. The future is very bright for Myers, with his potential as a physical, versatile wing coming to fruition in the second half of conference play. His old friends in the Power Four have surely taken notice, so he will soon have to pick between returning to San Jose State as a junior or trying his luck with a new program.
