Sunday’s Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu ended up in chaos and with both sets of players engaged in an angry brawl.
It all appeared to start when Dani Carvajal approached
Lamine Yamal after the final whistle. “You speak too much. Speak now,” the Real Madrid captain said to the 18-year-old.
Carvajal was referring to Yamal’s pre-match banter about Real Madrid that seems to have got the veteran all riled up.
Vinicius Jr then predictably joined in before being escorted off the pitch. It’s not clear what Real Madrid’s angry Brazilian said but he was heard telling Yamal during the match “you only pass backwards.”
Real Madrid had been forced to watch Vini Jr having another meltdown during the match. He reacted angrily to being substituted by Xabi Alonso and stormed down the tunnel before appearing back on the touchline later.
In the end it was left to Frenkie de Jong to restore some calmness and common sense.
He was asked about the situation after the game and said: “If Carvajal wanted to speak to Lamine, he could do so in private. If he thinks he shouldn’t do things like, he could call him. They’re teammates, they know each other. Why do you have to make a scene on the pitch?”
