Former Kentucky Wildcats standout PJ Washington has agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract extension with the Dallas Mavericks. The deal will keep Washington in Dallas through the 2029-2030 season.
Washington played with Kentucky basketball for two seasons, including in the 2018-2019 season when the Wildcats advanced to the Elite Eight. The Louisville (KY) native averaged 15.2 points per game in 2018-2019 with 7.5 rebounds per game.
From the floor, Washington shot 52.2% from the floor and 42.3%
from 3-point range.
Traded to Dallas during the 2023-2024 season, a season where the Mavericks surprised many by winning the Western Conference, Washington is averaging 13.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game through his first six seasons in the NBA. He also averaged 13 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in the NBA Playoffs in 2024.
Washington should be one of Dallas’s best players this upcoming season, and he is very deserving of this contract.
