In the last episode of As the Summerville Turns, Roma submitted a whopping €46 million bid for Crysencio Summerville, West Ham’s whirling dervish Dutch winger. While this represented a club record for the Giallorossi, the episode ended on a down note, as West Ham rejected the bid outright, leaving Tony D’Amico and Gian Piero Gasperini to consider their options: increase their already substantial offer or move on to Plan B.
While we have no inside information, with Aston Villa entering the mix, Roma
better act swiftly and decisively. Accordingly, sources in Italy are suggesting that the Giallorossi have upped their offer:
According to the latest reports from Alfredo Pedulla, Gianluca Di Marzio, Fabrizio Romano and others, a deal may be imminent. After submitting a third offer just shy of €50 million, optimism in Trigoria is growing, with those same sources speculating that a deal is imminent. La Repubblica dared to provide more details, claiming the deal will close at €47 million plus bonuses, with Summerville signing a five-year deal worth €4 million per season.
Any way you slice it, this is an enormous investment for Roma. Still, if Summerville is the missing link for Gasperini, it could be money well spent.
