Julian Nagelsmann has made a lot of big decisions surrounding the German national team in the last couple of weeks ahead of this summer’s big tournament. Perhaps one of the biggest decisions to make was defining who would be starting in the midfield pivot. Recent reports came out that Nagelsmann had already decided upon 9 of the 11 starts for this summer’s World Cup. Among them was Bayern Munich’s very own Aleksander Pavlović.
Pavlović is likely to start alongside Leon Goretzka or perhaps Anton Stach
can emerge as a larger player come June. When asked about how Pavlović felt about playing alongside Goretzka for Germany this summer, Pavlović was his usual humble self.
“Of course I’m pleased when the national team coach speaks positively about me. The World Cup is a clear goal of mine, but at the moment I’m still looking at it from afar. For now, I still have big goals with FC Bayern. That’s where my focus is and I’m continuing to work hard for that. And then, come the summer, the World Cup,” Pavlović told Säbener51 as per @iMiaSanMia.
Pavlović’s attitude is perfect here. As exciting as the prospect of the World Cup this summer is, the Bavarians are serious contenders for the Champions League and Pavlović knows there is a lot of work still to be done. Hopefully, fans can look back in a few months upon a successful end of season.
