The Detroit Lions have the weekend off.
[insert your clever joke about having Thursday off, too]
While it’s no fun having to sit on that loss for an extended weekend, the great part about the Lions playing on Thursday is that we get to watch all off Sunday’s NFL game with no stress. And this week has a lot of very interesting games to watch.
The 1 p.m. ET window features two games that should immediately draw your attention. First is a big NFC North showdown between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago
Bears. It’s a great opportunity to scout the division, and the winner of that game will have sole possession of first place in the NFC North after Week 2. Ben Johnson vs. Brian Flores is must-see TV. It’s even more exciting when there are divisional stakes on the line.
Lucky for local Lions fans, that is the game being played regionally on FOX.
If you have Sunday Ticket—or are just watching Red Zone all day—the other game to keep an eye on is Green Bay Packers vs. New York Jets. It’s a divisional opponent (Packers) vs. the Lions’ next opponent (Jets). Could Aaron Glenn’s team surprise and start the season 2-0 (and make the Packers 0-2)? Or will balance be restored?
There are plenty of other storylines and games to follow, and we’ll have a Week live chat thread coming later on Sunday.
For now, check out our picks for the rest of the NFL’s Week 2 slate, including our picks straight up, against the spread, and some of us also pick the over/unders.
