Barcelona have announced midfielder Rodi will miss Sunday’s La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid after being taken off at half-time of Tuesday’s Champions League win over Aston Villa.
Rodri was replaced by Marc Bernal and subsequently underwent tests at the club on Wednesday to determine the severity of the problem.
The club have now issued the following update:
“First-team player Rodrigo Hernández has undergone medical tests following the muscle discomfort he experienced during yesterday’s match against
Aston Villa.
“The tests confirm that he is suffering from a minor injury to the biceps femoris of his right leg.
“He will be sidelined for Sunday’s match against Atlético de Madrid. The exact recovery timeline will be determined by the evolution of the injury.”
Barcelona have not confirmed when Rodri will return but it’s been reported by Diario Sport he will be out of action for a month.
If the update is correct, it means that Rodri will also sit out games against Villarreal, Celta and Deportivo in La Liga as well as a Champions League tie against Sabah. He will also be unavailable for Spain during the upcoming international break.
The hope is then that the World Cup winner could be ready in time to play Manchester City in the Champions League on December 8th at Camp Nou.
Get well soon, Rodri.
