Happy (almost) new year! I hope your 2025 was better than the Colorado Rockies’ season…
Entering a new year, it’s always fun to look back at everything that happened at Purple Row. Today, you can re-read
our 10 most-read articles from 2025. Tomorrow, we’ll present our staff favorites. The articles below are posted counting down from No. 10 (fewest page views) to No. 1 (most page views). Here is last year’s iteration.
Page views are as of 10am MT today, December 31.
10) August 6: Blue Jays 20, Rockies 1: Say Uncle; 5,141 page views
In August, the Rockies played a three-game series against the eventual-AL Champion Toronto Blue Jays. It was a historic moment not only because it marked the Rockies’ 14th time being swept in 2025, but they were also outscored 45-6 in three games. The 45 runs, 63 hits and 13 home runs allowed in the series were each their most in a three-game set in franchise history.
Skyler Timmins had the misfortune of covering the final game, and a lot of people had a lot of thoughts.
9) August 25: A final postmortem of the Nolan Arenado trade; 5,203 page views
Austin Gomber entered the 2025 season as the last piece of the Nolan Arenado trade from 2021. After a tough season, that concluded with a devastating postgame interview, the left-hander was unconditionally released in August. It marked the end of the Arenado saga, and Evan Lang went back and reviewed how we got to this point.
8) August 4: Michael Toglia finds himself at a crossroads; 5,254 page views
In a year marked by a youth movement, the Rockies had to make some tough decisions on players. One of those decisions came by way of Michael Toglia, who once looked like a long-awaited answer at first base after Todd Helton’s retirement. Unfortunately, though, Toglia had an abysmal 2025 campaign that included multiple demotions to Triple-A. His first came in August as a “reset” — Evan went back and looked at Toglia’s career, and where he found himself at that moment in time.
7) February 11: Colorado Rockies announce 2025 promotional schedule; 5,274 page views
The Rockies lost 100+ games in back-to-back seasons, but that didn’t stop fans from being excited about the 2025 season. (Boy, were we all naive.) Usually, our Coors Field menu items article cracks this list (it came in at No. 13), but this year, folks were excited to see what kinds of promotions were available. Throughout the season, it also probably gave insight into which games might be worth going to for a cool giveaway. What do you think will be on the giveaway list for 2026?
6) November 5: Rockies front office search reeks of owner meddling; 6,096 page views
After the historically awful 2025 season ended, the Rockies cleaned house in their front office and promised an external search for their replacements. And things seemed to be running smoothly when all of the early candidates were from other organizations and not recently-related to the Rockies. However, things hit a snag when both finalists for PBO or GM — Arizona Diamondbacks assistant general manager Amiel Sawdaye and Cleveland Guardians assistant general manager Matt Forman — withdrew their candidacies. It looked like the Rockies were “Rockie-ing” again.
Luckily, things have seemingly worked out.
5) June 9: Colorado Rockies voices are clamoring for change; 6,274 page views
The Rockies completed their first series win and first sweep in June over the Miami Marlins. However, that still wasn’t enough for them to do much else through the rest of the season. Additionally, there was a general lack of accountability from upper management and ownership. Numerous people connected to the organization — both past and present — spoke to a multitude of media outlets to explain how they felt about the state of the team at that time. Evan chronicled everything.
4) July 31: Colorado Rockies 2025 MLB Trade Deadline Tracker; 6,637 page views
This year at Purple Row, we tried some new things. One of them was an MLB Trade Deadline tracker where we updated all the moves made around MLB on the trade deadline. The Rockies made a few moves of their own, but it proved very successful! Look for it again in 2026.
3) July 15: Colorado Rockies’ 2025 draft results and signings tracker; 8,747 page views
When a team is bad, their fans often get excited for the MLB Draft to see who their team picks up and what kind of things they might have to look forward to in the future. The Rockies drafted Ethan Holliday, son of former Rockies great Matt “Touched Home Plate” Holliday, fourth-overall. If he’s anything like his brother Jackson, it could be an exciting time for the Rockies in a few years!
2) July 28: Rockies at Guardians Rain Delay Updates; 9,410 page views
Another thing we tried this year was live updates during rain delays. Again, it worked out well for us, so look for this again in 2026!
1) April 17: Has Kris Bryant’s Rockies tenure come to an end?; 11,800 page views
Ah, Kris Bryant. He has been a theme for the last few iterations of our top 10 most-read articles. However, in 2025, he only played 11 games so there wasn’t a ton to be written about him. Mac Wilcox wrote this right after KB was put on the injured list in April and diagnosed with lumbar degenerative disc disease. We haven’t gotten any updates since then, but we’ll see if Mac ends up being right.

Thanks for reading all year! Happy New Year, and cheers to a great 2026 for you, the Colorado Rockies, and for Purple Row.
