We’re back at it this week as Iowa hosts UMass. Marcus Camby isn’t walking through those doors…
This will be Iowa’s easiest game of the year, by far. The Minutemen are missing numerous starters this week, including starting quarterback Brandon Rose. It’s a severely undermanned team, which, even with this Iowa offense spinning it’s wheels through the first two weeks of the year, is a bad recipe. They’re bad enough to earn the 136th spot in The Athletic’s college football power rankings (for those unaware,
there are 136 teams at the FBS level.) This should be a walk in the park for Iowa, even with Iowa’s pass offense struggling yet again.
Tomorrow’s weather looks great again, though it will be hot during the day. Temps during tailgating will reach into the low 90s and stay there during the early portions of the game. By the time the game concludes temps should be much more comfortable, in the low 80s.
With all of those starters out and their status as one of the worst teams in FBS secure, Vegas has responded accordingly with a huge line in Iowa’s favor. Iowa is now up to a 34.5-point favorite over the Minutemen, and that seems…low? Even with Iowa’s horrific offense? This UMass team stinks and Iowa should rout them accordingly. They’d better – guys, the schedule is about to get real. Get this one in the win column then it’s on to Rutgers next Friday in New Jersey.
