Liga MX Femenil’s Clausura 2026 tournament is here and although there were many memorable moments in week one, we have chosen the top five.
5. Mazatlán starts strong
Against all odds, Mazatlán registered its first win of the season
in week one. Taiwo Busirat Lawal contributed with a brace in the win and Yoselyn Lopez Martinez sealed the deal for a 3-2 result.
Thanks to the massive result, Aby Martínez and coach Nicolás Morales were chosen as part of the week one best XI.
4. Toluca vs Tijuana’s battle
Liga MX Femenil’s fans and media were eager to see this game that put one of the most promising teams in the form of Toluca against a team that not long ago knew what it was among the top ones in Mexico.
Although Diablas started off strong with two goals, Las Perrísimas pulled one back near the end of the first half. They equalized only minutes after the second half started. However, Faustine Robert and Eugénie Le Sommer put two more against the back of the net for the hosts.
Tijuana responded again, and but it was too late. The score was then 4-3, but then Le Sommer sealed the 5-3 result.
3. Eugénie Le Sommer’s golazo and hat-trick
Eugénie Le Sommer needs no introduction as she made a huge difference for Toluca in Apertura 2025.
She’s continuing her quest in 2026 and the French striker started with the right foot against Tijuana. In a hard-fought game, Le Sommer made all the difference and sealed her hat-trick with a banger.
2. Ana Lu Martínez shines in Cruz Azul’s win
Cruz Azul was the underdog last season and recorded the best tournament in its history. For whoever thought this was just a fluke, the team proved they want to continue what they started last season.
And they did so by putting five goals past León, marking this the biggest win in week one. Guatemalan Ana Lu Martínez made all the difference again after scoring a brace and registering one assist. For her performance, she not only won the Player of the Match award but she was also chosen as the Player of the Week.
1. Ève Périsset scores for Necaxa
Necaxa had a rough start in week one after hosting Tigres. The game ended in a 4-1 result, with a poker of goals scored by Diana Ordóñez.
However, the four goals scored by the striker ended up in second place after Karoll López caused an own goal to happen, one that involved French international Ève Périsset.
