Dynamite airs tonight (Nov. 19) with a live show from Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. This is the final episode of Dynamite during the five week build to Full Gear, which takes place on Saturday (Nov. 22).
AEW is going three hours for Mercedes Moné’s 14 title win
AEW is actually airing a three hour block of programming tonight, with the first two hours allocated as the Dynamite portion of the show, and the final hour being called Collision. There will also probably be an overrun in there somewhere too, because there’s always room for more content.
One of the big matches during this three hour block of programming is a title unification match between ROH Women’s Television Champion Red Velvet and interim champion Mercedes Mone. This is Velvet’s first match back since she went down with an injury this summer, which explains why there is also an interim champion.
On paper, Mercedes is the overwhelming favorite to win this match. She’s already walking around holding 13 different belts, including AEW’s TBS championship, so this is a way for The CEO to potentially add a 14th title to her collection (Sammy Guevara carried around two physical belts after unifying the TNT title a few years ago, so it’s not a lock that one of the ROH belts will vanish after tonight’s unification). There’s also the fact that Velvet hasn’t wrestled on Dynamite since early 2024, which tells you where she ranks in the AEW pecking order, despite being a ROH champion. Finally, tonight’s show takes place in Mone’s hometown, so there will be more fans cheering her on than usual.
One way Red might win is if AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander makes an appearance to play mind games with Mercedes. Statlander and Mone are fighting over the world title at Full Gear, so this may be an opportunity for Kris to put some doubt in Mercedes’ head or stall her momentum going into their title bout.
Will Mercedes continue to prove she is “the best to ever do it” by collecting a 14th championship belt tonight? Tune into the three hour block of Dynamite/Collision to find out.
The rest of the card
The AEW women’s tag team championship tournament continues tonight with the final two opening round matches. First up is Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa vs. Riho and Alex Windsor. Toni and Mina are looking for vengeance after being forced to surrender at Blood & Guts, and that journey begins tonight in this battle of babyfaces.
TayJay vs. Megan Bayne & Marina Shafir is the other tournament match scheduled for tonight. Megan and Marina are one of the teams that Toni and Mina need to get revenge on for Blood & Guts, and that match will happen in the next round if they both win tonight.
The brand new AEW National championship will be awarded at Full Gear to the winner of a Casino Gauntlet match. The first two entrants in the gauntlet will be determined tonight in separate singles matches. The big one is Bobby Lashley vs. Ricochet, who are fighting over the number one entry. I doubt that Bob will be asked to wrestle the entire gauntlet match, so I suspect he will lose tonight. However, he’s never been pinned in AEW, so Ricochet may need to find a way to get the man disqualified.
The number two entry goes to the winner of “Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. Shelton Benjamin. I bet there’s some kind of mathematical analysis that can be done to prove the first two entries are not actually the most advantageous positions in the Casino gauntlet match, since it’s so rare for matches in AEW that don’t include jobbers to end in just a couple of minutes.
Tonight’s lineup also features a Double Jeopardy match between AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada and CMLL World Trios Champion Mascara Dorada. If Okada wins, the Don Callis Family is rewarded with a future shot at the CMLL world trios championship. If Dorada wins, he earns a future shot at Okada’s belt. I think the only way the latter scenario will happen is if IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita “accidentally” screws over Okada tonight.
AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page continues his tour against The Opps tonight when he takes on Katsuyori Shibata in a singles match. Will Samoa Joe make sure to lay out Hangman again after he wins?
Finally, Kenny Omega returns to AEW television tonight, and the Young Bucks need to decide once and for all if they are joining the Callis Family. The Broke Bucks will have to injure their former friend Omega to prove they are loyal to Don, and there are one million dollars on the line at Full Gear to incentivize them to make that a priority. Will Matthew and Nicholas Jackson do the right thing?
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– Darby Allin vs. PAC is booked at Full Gear. Does Darby need to have The Conglomeration watching his ball sack just in case Gabe Kidd and the Death Riders are lurking in the shadows ready to murder him?
– Mark Briscoe has to join the Don Callis Family if he loses against TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher at Full Gear. If the champ retains, he will break the record for the most TNT title defenses in a single reign. Do Mark and Kyle have any final words or threats for each other tonight on the go home show?
– It really annoys the shit out of Jon Moxley when the fans chant that he tapped out at Blood & Guts. Will Mox demand some kind of match against Kyle O’Reilly at Full Gear in order to fight back against the narrative that he’s a quitter?
– There are two different money matches at Full Gear now that Max Caster and Anthony Bowens can also win a giant sack of cash. Will Tony Khan add a third money match to the show before tonight’s three hour block of programming wraps up?
– Will FTR try to make sure they don’t have to wrestle on the Collision portion of the show tonight, since they keep losing on Collision in the build up to their AEW world tag team title match against Brodido at Full Gear?
– The Costco Guy is back in AEW for another match at Full Gear. Will AEW bother reminding fans that his match exists, or spend any of its three hour runtime tonight on it with a video recap?
– Where the f*** is Britt Baker?
What will you be looking for on Dynamite?
