Bayern Munich are financially superior to their Bundesliga counterparts. Transfermarkt places Bayern’s squad value at €957.65m, almost doubt RB Leipzig who possess the second most valuable squad (€505.15m) in Germany’s top flight. Borussia Dortmund (€491m), Bayer Leverkusen (€438.55m), and VfB Stuttgart (€401m) round out the top five, contributing to 54.45% of the Bundesliga’s total €5.13bn value.
Ironically, according to Transfermarkt’s latest player valuations, Stuttgart and Leverkusen both feature
zero players in the Bundesliga’s most valuable XI, while Leipzig and Dortmund feature one player each. On the other hand, Bayern players occupy seven spots as Eintracht Frankfurt and Hamburger SV round out the rest of the XI.
Bayern could technically have eight players part of the Bundesliga’s most valuable XI as Alphonso Davies’s market value is equal to Nathaniel Brown’s at €40m.
One can’t help but notice the stark contrast in squad quality between Bayern and the rest of the Bundesliga. Sure, transfer value doesn’t equal impact, but it’s a metric that indicates why Germany’s top sides have such a tough time competing with Bayern. Die Rekordmeister’s quality and depth simply can’t be matched.
If Bayern continues their domestic dominance, next year could feature an XI solely made up of Bayern players.
