Fiorentina begins its preseason schedule in earnest today with a tilt against AS Gubbio at the RBCVPetc. Gubbio (hard on the slopes of the Appenines in northern Umbria) currently plays in Serie C and has several Viola connections: regista Federico Carraro was a highly-touted youth prospect 15 years ago, rightback Nicolò Fazzi spent time on Serie A rosters over the years, and centerback Leonardo Baroncelli is spending his second consecutive year on loan with the Rossoblù.

Whatever feels good, man. We’re talking about a game where Marco Brescianini is starting on the wing. I’m not even sure how Gubbio’s lining up, as Domenico di Carlo seems to be experimenting a bit.
