With running back Zach Charbonnet (knee) expected to remain on the physically unable to perform list for the time being, the Seattle Seahawks added depth ahead of their Thursday night showdown against the Denver Broncos.
The team announced they signed running back Velus Jones Jr. back to their 53-man rosterjust a day after he was released to make room for wide receiver and special teams gunner Irv Charles, who was activated from injured reserve on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, Charles was released and re-signed
to the practice squad.
As vested veterans, neither were subject to waivers meaning the special teams star is eligible to practice with the team on Wednesday.
Charles, 29, was placed on injured reserve prior to the start of the regular season with a knee injury and has yet to make his Seahawks debut after being acquired from the New York Jets in the spring.
Further indication on whether he’ll suit up against Denver will become available when the team announces their practice squad elevations on Thursday.
