The 2025-26 Champions League is set to kick off with the first round of fixtures taking place this week in Europe’s premier club competition.
Paris Saint-Germain will be out to defend their title and have already been installed as one of the favorites along with Liverpool, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Hansi Flick’s side made it to the semi-finals last year but then tasted defeat in heart-breaking style against Inter.
The German coach will be aiming for more this time around, with
the Catalan giants set to open up their campaign on Thursday night against Newcastle at St James’ Park.
“Last season we didn’t play in England,” Flick has said about the game. “The quality there is amazing; also the stadium there is great in Newcastle.
“I followed them in the last years. What they are doing is really good. The coaching staff have done an unbelievable job. We are looking forward to playing in Newcastle.”
Barcelona will be expected to make it through the group stages at the very least, but fans will be hoping for much more from Lamine Yamal and Co. in 2025-26.
