Robin Roefs: 5/10
City were extremely clinical today but got to be disappointed when almost every shot on goal ends up in the back of the net. Made a good save late on from O’Reilly.
Nordi Mukiele: 6/10
Combined well with Meunier down the right but got in a bit of a mix up for the fourth, deflecting Danso’s tackle right into the path of Semenyo. Put a lovely cross onto Fofana’s head at the death that should have ended in a goal.
Kevin Danso: 5/10
Had a chance to equalise on the stroke of half-time but could only hit his header straight at Donnarumma. Thought
his passing was a bit clumsy at times today, leaving us in a bit of trouble for the second.
Dan Ballard: 6/10
Was a threat in the opposition box, winning one header that forced a clearance off the line and then hitting the post near the end. Like his team-mates, couldn’t quite get enough o
Dayann Methalie: 6/10
Had some lovely runs forward, where he’d spin away from his man and find himself in room t0 run. Used the ball well but a couple of moments where he’d try to shoulder barge his man but come off worse are a learning experience for him.
Granit Xhaka (C): 6/10
Was a bit sloppy at times, particularly in the first half and stood off too much defensively a couple of times. Still had a good game overall though, put a great ball over the top for Angulo for our third and put some lovely balls into the box in the second half.
Noah Sadiki: 7/10
Played a lovely ball over to the right wing for Le Fee for Angulo’s early chance and was then played in by a great Le Fee pass but skied his left footed effort well over. Tidy on the ball today and covered a lot of gaps at the back.
Thomas Meunier: 7/10
Got an assist with a lovely line breaking run and ball to Brobbey, combined well with Mukiele down the right, with the taking turns going forward and getting back.
Enzo Le Fee: 9/10
Created loads of chances, with world class balls giving him an assist for the first and setting away Meunier for the second. Caused City all sorts of problems by popping up everywhere and finding space to set up others.
Nilson Angulo: 7/10
Caused Nunes all sorts of problems this afternoon, had the beating of him and got an assist with his last touch, picking out Brobbey at the far post. Should have scored early on but didn’t connect properly from Le Fee’s cross. Put in a good defensive shift too.
Brian Brobbey: 10/10
Bullied Ruben Dias all afternoon, with the only way the City man being able to stop him was by taking him out from behind. Got a hattrick with some great centre forward play.
Substitutes
Malick Fofana: 7/10
Looked good when he replaced Angulo, had a few chances to score. Had one effort blocked when he it looked goal bound, then had a curling effort and a header he should have scored at least one from.
Wilson Isidor: 6/10
Came on as we went two up top to try and get into the game.
Trai Hume: 6/10
Headed an effort over from a corner and then put a dangerous cross into the box that was a little too close to the goalkeeper.
Man of the Match: Brian Brobbey
Le Fee was excellent again but I have to give man of the match to Brobbey, thanks to his hattrick. Made a good run for the first goal and then cleverly finished past Donnarumma, then ghosted into room for his second and third goals. Some great hold up play all afternoon that Manchester City just couldn’t do anything about, didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
