Following the game, let’s look at how each player changed their stock. Keep in mind that information can be hard to come by for players, depending on their performance or their position. If anyone else
can find info, please post in the comments.
A quick note, this was the first year of the American Bowl, and it appeared to be a success. For starters, there was no controversy like the Hula Bowl, and the game was actually on TV. But an agent reported that “everything was very smooth and I have no complaints aside from the distance between the practice field and where the game was played.”
That being said, here is the information found for the players.
The Players:
DT Payton Zdroik (Air Force)
- Synopsis: It seems like Zdroik turned a head or two at the practices. He came in undersized and under the radar, but appeared to be holding his own in his clip. After the American Bowl, it’s probably safe to assume he is at least on the radar.
- Stock Report: SLIGHTLY UP
OL Mason Randolph (Boise State)
- Synopsis: Unfortunately, not much could be found for Randolph. While that probably isn’t good, it’s hard to say for sure. He may have performed well, but it hasn’t been reported.
- Stock Report: SLIGHTLY DOWN
DB Al’zillion Hamilton (Fresno State)
- Synopsis: Hamilton had a strong showing, and reports from someone who was there indicated that many scouts were impressed. He spoke with 13 different teams who all had some level of interest. Some teams see him as a nickel, others see him playing outside and inside.
- Stock Report: UP
K Kansei Matsuzawa (Hawaii)
- Synopsis: Kansei kicked the game-winning field goal late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for his team. That is nothing new for him, as he was sensational all season and is definitely clutch when it comes to big kicks.
- Stock Report: SLIGHTLY UP
OL Christian Jones (San Diego State)
- Synopsis: Jones’ play in the American Bowl led to a Shrine Bowl invitation, so he must’ve stood out during his competition. There were some clips found and he is winning his fair share of one-on-ones.
- Stock Report: UP
