Barcelona are studying the possibility of signing a defender after Ronald Araujo’s departure on loan to Liverpool, and Brazilian center-back Natan from Real Betis appears to be their target.
That’s according to a report from TNT Sports Brazil — which yours truly from Brazil can tell you is a good source — which says the Catalans have held preliminary talks with Betis to explore the conditions of a transfer for the 25-year-old defender.
Natan, who had a really good 2025-26 season for Betis, is valued
at €25 million and checks a lot of the boxes the Blaugrana would be looking for in a left-footed center-back: he’s tall, fast, good on the ball, dominant in the air, and a front-footed, aggressive defender capable of playing in a high line system such as Hansi Flick’s.
Barça have been linked with Cristian Romero and Aymeric Laporte all summer, but Romero is very close to signing for Atlético Madrid and Laporte is 32 years old and apparently valued at €80 million by Athletic Club, so Barça might be looking at Natan due to his age, La Liga experience and affordable price.
