It wasn’t a banner stretch for the Dogs as they amassed four losses in six tries to wrap up the second week of AFL action.
Tuesday, October 14, 2025: Salt River Rafters 5, Desert Dogs 2
The Rafters owned the Dogs, who scratched out just one earned run on four hits. Antonacci took the collar (0-for-4, a K, and a throwing error for good measure). Galanie wasn’t much help either, going 0-for-3 with a punchout.
Wednesday, October 15, 2025: Desert Dogs 6, Peoria Javelinas 4
It was a much-improved day at the plate for the South Siders. In the leadoff spot, Antonacci got things going, putting one in the seats in the top of the third.
He also drove in Connor with an RBI base hit in the fourth. The 22-year-old finished 2-for-4 with a walk. Connor was the only other Sox bat in the lineup, going 1-for-3 with a single and two free passes.
Three hurlers got in on the action. Rosado earned himself a hold, only a walk marring his line. Jacobs also collected a hold, despite giving up a run on two walks and a single. Smith had himself another stellar outing. Three scoreless frames, yielding only one hit and five strikeouts. The southpaw did issue two walks, but overall was able to keep runners off the basepaths with no harm done.
McCullough, on the other hand, took the L for allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits and a walk. The killer was a three-run dinger he served up to Walker Janek.
Friday, October 17, 2025: Desert Dogs 10, Surprise Saguaros 1
The Dogs unleashed on the Saguaros, and three Chicago prospects contributed to the 14-hit parade. Connor led the charge, continuing his excellent showing so far in the AFL. He went 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs. Galanie was 1-for-3 with a walk and two driven in, and Antonacci ended up 1-for-6 with a base hit and a K.
Saturday, October 18, 2025: Mesa Solar Sox 7, Desert Dogs 5 (7 innings)
The DDs scrounged up only three hits off of Mesa’s arms. Connor and Galanie combined for a goose egg (0-for-4), although Connor worked a free pass and Galanie had an RBI sacrifice fly.
Rosado closed out the game, getting a walk and a K for the final two outs.
