Marc Bernal is slowly but surely enjoying more game time at Barcelona after returning from a long injury lay-off.
Hansi Flick has made it clear he will be careful with Bernal this season, meaning the 18-year-old has had to be patient, although he is starting to enjoy a more prominent role.
The Barcelona boss has also made it clear to Bernal what he wants to see from him if he is to enjoy more first-team minutes this season, according to Sport.
“He’s improving but he has to play faster,” was the demand
from Flick to Berna after he was handed a start against Albacete in the Copa del Rey this week. Flick is said to want Bernal to release the ball quickly and not over-complicate situations.
After starting in midweek, it’s likely that Bernal will drop back down to the bench at the weekend against Real Mallorca when Barca return to action.
Flick is still managing Bernal’s minutes carefully this season, although he did make it clear he did not want the midfielder to leave on loan this winter, and the hope is he can play an important role in the second half of the season.
