The Syracuse Orange (22-7, 12-5) open up play in the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament tonight when they meet the California Golden Bears (19-13, 9-9). Syracuse won the regular season meeting 90-87 in triple overtime. Will we be in for another tight game tonight?
The game tips at 5:00 on the ACC Network and here’s what we’re watching for:
Kevin: Limit turnovers
The NCAA is lining up the Orange to bus to Storrs, so in order to try and avoid that match-up Syracuse could use two wins this week. One factor
which has hampered the team has been turnovers as the Orange average 14.5 per game. With the team’s ability to get on the offensive glass (13.2 per game in ACC), they need to avoid unforced errors that keep them from getting multiple chances to score.
Dom: Strong play from start to finish
Last time around against Cal, Syracuse had its opponent in the dust. It was up as much as 20 points against the Golden Bears back in January, and then, the fourth quarter happened. In it, Cal outscored ‘Cuse 25-9, while Syracuse needed a clutch three from Dominique Darius to escape in triple-overtime. The Golden Bears stayed close in the end despite turning the ball over 25 times and going just 5/17 on threes. Statistically, it will play better, but the Orange can certainly win this game comfortably (by 8-10 points) if it handles business this time around from beginning to end.

We’ll have a game thread for this one, but let’s see that Darius game winner again:
