Illinois volleyball opened the 2026 season with a five-set loss Friday night, falling to Cincinnati 3-2 at Huff Hall. The Illini dropped the deciding fifth set to the Bearcats. Illinois will have a chance to bounce back Sunday against Syracuse.
🏀 Basketball
Illinois added another piece to its backcourt Thursday, bringing in Chicago native Quentin McCoy from Arizona State. The 6-foot-3 guard appeared in nine games during two seasons with the Sun Devils and will
wear No. 5 for the Illini.

⚽ Soccer
Illinois remains unbeaten after Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Saint Louis. Cayla Jackson scored her second goal of the season in the first half before the Billikens equalized after halftime. The Illini are now 1-0-3 through four matches.
🏈 Football
Illinois is less than a week from kickoff. The Illini held their first game-week press conference of game week as preparations continue for Thursday night’s season opener against UAB. Katin Houser will make his Illinois debut at quarterback, while new defensive coordinator Bobby Hauck brings a 3-3-5 system to Champaign.
