Speaking about whether he has had any football-related conversations with Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany since the coach was discharged from the hospital, Aaron Danks made it clear that the club is taking his recovery extremely seriously. With Danks overseeing preparations in Kompany’s absence, the instructions from Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have been very clear: soccer can wait.
“No, no, absolutely not. Absolutely not. We’re taking it very seriously. I’m under strict instructions from
Max and Christoph to not engage in those conversations and not fill Vince’s mind with anything other than his health, his family time—we’re taking it very seriously. We want him to rest, we want him to recover well so when he comes back to us, he’s at his full capacity to help us. So no, we’re really strict on this, and we’re leaving Vince alone completely from the soccer,” Danks said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
That is exactly how it should be. Kompany’s health comes before everything else, and Bayern clearly want to give him the time and space necessary to recover properly rather than create any unnecessary pressure to return.
Danks and the rest of the coaching staff will handle the soccer responsibilities in the meantime. There is no reason to rush anything.
