The Michigan Wolverines survived this weekend against Northwestern at Wrigley Field, 24-22, thanks to a last-second field goal from Dominic Zvada. The Wolverines saw some production from their true freshmen,
including a running back that burned his redshirt on Saturday.
Here are the freshmen who have seen playing time this season. An asterisk (*) indicates they played against Northwestern:
- QB Bryce Underwood* (10 games)
- RB Jasper Parker* (5 games)
- WR Andrew Marsh* (10 games)
- WR Jacob Washington (1 game)
- WR Jamar Browder (6 games)
- TE Eli Owens (1 game)
- OL Avery Gach (2 games)
- OL Kaden Strayhorn (1 game)
- OL Ty Haywood (1 game)
- Edge Nate Marshall* (8 games)
- DL Benny Patterson (4 games)
- DL Travis Moten (1 game)
- DL Bobby Kanka (1 game)
- LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng* (4 games)

- DB Elijah Dotson* (9 games)
- DB Jordan Young* (7 games)
- DB Jayden Sanders* (10 games)

- DB Kainoa Winston (1 game)
We learned true freshman wide receiver Andrew Marsh is the real deal on Saturday. He played in his 10th game of the season and ended the day with 12 catches for 189 yards. Quarterback Bryce Underwood had some bright spots, but had some costly turnovers as well.
Meanwhile, running back Jasper Parker burned his redshirt by playing in his fifth game of the year, and the Wolverines might need him in the weeks ahead. Head coach Sherrone Moore said Jordan Marshall’s injury isn’t “serious,” but his status is still to be determined for next week and beyond.
On defense, linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng is seeing more playing time and is just one game away from burning his redshirt. In the secondary, Jordan Young had a huge pass breakup late in the game and has been getting more playing time as the season goes on.
The Wolverines have another road game next week, this time at Maryland. It’s likely we’ll see Parker some more — especially now that he’s officially burned his redshirt — and it’s even more likely that we’ll see more of Marsh as well.
