The final Best Things Ever first-round matchup is upon us!
For those who have slept through the exercise, each day you’ll get two posts, each with two items for you to choose from. Simply select whichever you think is better, just like you were at the optometrist hearing, “A…or B?” The winners will advance in the tournament until there’s only one Best Thing Ever for 2026! It’s our way of passing the time during the dog days of NBA summer.
The first round concludes with a choice between Bugs Bunny and
GIFs.
The Bugs Bunny category can include all of the Looney Tunes cartoons and shorts and their spin-offs. (Yes, that includes Space Jam too.) Basically, it’s those animated reels that used to populate movie theaters but then came to dominate Saturday mornings and weekend afternoons in syndication. Bugs, Daffy, Porky Pig, Elmer, Sylvester and Tweety…everybody has favorite characters and memories from the franchise! What are yours?
In the modern day, though, entertainment comes in much smaller packages. Sometimes as little as a few seconds in the case of GIFs, instant reels used to augment, extend, and bring flavor to online conversation. Whether you pronounce it GIF or GIF, life wouldn’t be the same without these short videos anymore.
