ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting that the Green Bay Packers have signed quarterback Cam Miller to their practice squad. The Packers had two openings on their practice squad coming into the week, so the team doesn’t need to make any corresponding roster move to execute this deal. With that being said, Green Bay already had one practice squad quarterback in Kedon Slovis, so there’s a possibility that his job moving forward is uncertain.
Miller originally worked out for the Packers in early September,
but the team continued to roll with Slovis at the time. Only one other quarterback, UFL MVP Jack Plummer, has worked out with Green Bay since the cutdown deadline.
Miller was a sixth-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025, and the former North Dakota State quarterback spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad. Late in the year, he was poached by the Miami Dolphins, where he spent training camp in 2026 before being released at the roster cutdown deadline.
Beyond Miller’s September workout for the Packers, the Minnesota Vikings also kicked the tires on the quarterback about a month ago.
In two pre-seasons, Miller has gone 36 of 75 passing for 373 yards, one touchdown, one interception and seven sacks.
Here was The Athletic’s Dane Brugler’s blurb on Miller as a draft prospect, when he was graded as a draftable prospect by the analyst:
A four-year starter at North Dakota State, Miller was the point guard of former offensive coordinator Jake Landry’s run-heavy scheme (averaged just 21.9 pass attempts per game). A two-time FCS national champion as a starter (2022 and 2024), he set school records for career passing yards (9,720), completions (759) and total offense (11,997).
Miller is an intelligent game manager who takes what the defense gives him and relies on timing and placement over pure arm power. The son of a football coach, his mental approach and on-field production showed improvements each season, although he will continue to have his doubters because of the level of competition he faced. Overall, Miller won’t wow you right away because the physical traits are average. The more you watch, though, the more you come to appreciate his decision-making and feel for the position. He can be an asset in an NFL quarterback room as a reserve.
