Junior safety Kobe Black will not be available for the No. 1 Texas Longhorns on Saturday when Steve Sarkisian’s program hosts the UTSA Roadrunners at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, according to a report from Horns247’s Eric Henry.
The 6’2, 202-pounder made the move from cornerback during the spring and earned the starting job next to senior Jelani McDonald, recording four tackles and a pass broken up over 78 snaps in the first
two games. According to Pro Football Focus, opponents have not yet targeted Black in pass coverage.
The team’s depth chart lists senior Derek Williams as Black’s backup. Williams currently has seven tackles in 50 snaps, but has also given up two receptions for 60 yards the two times that he’s been targeted in coverage and missed a tackle in the season opener against Texas State.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Central on SEC Network+ with the Longhorns favored by 29.5 points on FanDuel.
