Real could seek to capitalize on Karl contract situation (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
It is no secret that Bayern Munich has kicked around the idea of signing Lennart Karl to a contract extension, but nothing concrete has come of it yet.
There is still plenty of time for the Bavarians and Karl to get together, as his current deal (just signed last February) runs through 2029. That said, there are some club that will be paying attention to the progress of the talks — including Real Madrid:
✅ It is TRUE: A player like Lennart Karl is a name on the table of every top club at the moment.
It was a pity that he was injured before the World Cup; otherwise, we’d be talking in a different range about the German international! Now, he is back available as a rotational option in Vincent Kompany’s squad, scoring against Elversberg in the Bundesliga. He’s shown he is, yet again, a player Bayern can count on. And that’s saying something, because it’s not easy to break into this Bayern team, with top players like Michael Olise playing in the same position.
Everyone is keeping a close eye on what Karl is doing next. His contract is not incredibly long (expiring in 2029), so Bayern Munich have to make some decisions about a new contract for him. This is why other clubs, like Real Madrid, have an eye on him, and may be trying to work out whether he’s going to sign a new contract or if there’s an opening to talk with the 18-year-old. There is nothing concretely hot at the moment. However, it will be the next topic when Bayern are speaking. How high the offer is, we’ll have to see. And, of course, Lennart Karl is free to explore options with other clubs. They know what they’d get if they sign such a big young talent.
Right now, there is no reason for anyone to hit the panic button. Karl is still just 18-years-old and seeking to establish himself at a mega club. The youngster’s focus should be on developing his game, securing consistent playing time, and continuing on his upward trajectory toward stardom. Karl has a long way to go to get there, though, but if he can reach that level, Real Madrid could be lying in wait.
