Tonight, the Braves will face Max Fried for the first time ever — they missed facing him when the Yankees visited Atlanta last year. (The three games in that series involved a bullpen game, a Will Warren start, and a Marcus Stroman start.) Fried’s been a Yankee for about a season and a half now, though headlines on him have been a bit muted this season because he missed over two months with a bone bruise on his pitching elbow. Still, he was dominant in his first year in pinstripes (4.8 fWAR, a career
high in starts and innings, and a pitching line akin to his career line), and has been similar this year (with an added bonus of a lower HR/FB because he was out when the drag on the ball precipitously fell in June).
Anyway, it’ll be kind of weird for the Braves to face down Max Fried. Will it be weird for you? Do you still think of him as a Brave in some fashion? Or, has there been enough drama since his departure that even 2024 feels like ages ago at this point?
