The Cincinnati Bengals have hired former University of South Carolina quarterbacks coach Davis Koetter to serve as the team’s assistant wide receivers coach, according to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero.
Davis, the son of former NFL coach Dirk Koetter, spent two years at the University of Texas as an analyst.
Before coaching, Koetter played wideout at Boise State from 2018 until 2022, with his best season being in 2019. In that season, Koetter recorded 38 receptions for 626 yards and eight touchdowns.
He now gets his chance on an NFL coaching staff and an ultra-talented wide receiver room to work with.
Koetter will work with Bengals’ wide receivers coach Troy Walters, who joined the team in 2020.
The Bengals have avoided the drastic changes to the staff and appear to be close to finalizing the full staff down to the assistants before turning their focus to improving the roster through the NFL Draft and free agency. With all three teams in the AFC North making coaching changes, the Bengals boast the longest-tenured coaching staff in the division.
Koetter will add a bit of youth to the room as he begins his (assumed) goal of climbing the ranks in NFL coaching.
