A consummate hypeman, it took John Cena no time at all to seamlessly go from a jorts & merch-wearing WWE spokesperson to… a suit-and-tie-wearing WWE spokesperson.
He spent two nights hosting WrestleMania 43, which gave us some great Bianca Belair/Montez Ford news and differently-great Cena-hausen team-up. And shortly after that premium live event, Cena said he hoped to be at Backlash* this weekend in Tampa, Florida. And the Never Seen 17 seemed to have big plans for the May 9 PLE.
Now Cena’s telling
us that he’ll definitely be at Benchmark International Arena this Saturday, and “something epic” is now “history-making news”.
It’s official! I’m headed to #WWEBacklash! After months of planning and effort, I am SO excited to break some history-making news! I can’t promise it’ll be perfect but I can promise it will change the WWE experience for Superstars and fans!
C U Live Saturday in Tampa or at home on the @espn app!
He doesn’t mention it in this post, but one of the things Cena’s been promoting as WWE’s “ambassador” is Club WWE, their new premium super-fan program that promises early access to tickets, exclusive merchandise, and other perks in exchange for an as-yet-undisclosed price. The “something epic” tease seemed Club WWE-related, but perhaps they’ve dialed down plans for that programs launch in light of the less-than-optimal PR the company’s received for the past few months.
We’ll find out what Cena has to tell us on Saturday night. Make your guesses now in the comments!
* Two words that for the rest of my life I am now (happily) cursed to hear Danhausen’s delivery of in my head.
