On Wednesday, the Big East Conference announced the six major award winners for women’s soccer, as well as the All-Big East Teams. While the UConn Huskies did not capture any of the major awards, they
placed five players on the All-Big East teams.
Senior Chioma Okafor, who led the Huskies with eight goals and 17 points, was named to the All-Big East First Team along with junior Anaya Johnson. Okafor was a unanimous selection. Graduate student Anna Carson, who played 1,510 of a possible 1,530 minutes this season, earned All-Big East Second Team honors.
The trio was joined by sophomore Taylor Jenkins and redshirt freshman Se-Hanna Mars on the All-Big East Third Team.
The No. 3 seed Huskies are back in action at 5:00 p.m. today, taking on the No. 2 seed Xavier Musketeers in the Big East Women’s Soccer Championship at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
