The Cleveland Browns have their final practice on Friday for Week 2’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with an injury to CB Tyson Campbell at the top of the concern list, especially with former Browns QB Baker Mayfield on the docket. Whether starting QB Deshaun Watson holds on to that role beyond Week 2 continues to be a topic of conversation, with QB Shedeur Sanders and his impressive “work ethic” waiting in the wings.
A report on Thursday that Cleveland was going to sign Sanders’ former teammate,
WR Jimmy Horn Jr., to the roster added to the quarterback change speculation. On Friday, the Browns made the signing of Horn, to the practice squad, official, while releasing WR Kole Wilson to make room for Horn:
Horn (5-8, 174) is in his second NFL season out of Colorado. Originally drafted by Carolina in the sixth round in 2025, Horn has appeared in 15 career games, including one this season with the Panthers. He has recorded 11 career receptions for 108 yards. Horn will wear No. 19.
It is highly unlikely that Horn will be elevated for Week 2, but he has a chance in the near future if Cleveland wants to use him as a returner. Horn returned seven kicks for the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland’s Week 3 opponent. His knowledge of next week’s opponent could be helpful as well.
