Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has sent out an emotional message after making his return to action during Sunday’s 3-2 Spanish Super Cup final win over Real Madrid.
The Uruguay international was a late
substitute in the victory on his first appearance for the club since taking a mental health break.
He’s now posted a message on social media and offered some insight into how he’s feeling.
“I learned that stopping on time is self love. Guarding the mind and heart is not giving up, it is trusting that God works even in silence. Stopping refreshed me and allowed me to come back stronger,” he wrote on Instagram.
“The process wasn’t easy but coming back like this is a privilege. Thanks to the club, my teammates and the fans for the treatment, affection and respect. I came back yesterday picking up this title and how nice it was. We’re still together.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ” Mateo 11:28

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and team-mates have all spoken about their happiness at seeing Araujo back with the team and playing football again.
The hope is that he can now go on and play regularly in the second half of the season for Barca.
