One of Bayern Munich’s standout players from the preseason has been 21-year-old midfielder Tom Bischof.
After the Bavarians picked up a 2-1 friendly win over Jeju SK, Bischof was asked by the media about what role he might play this season and if head coach Vincent Kompany had spoken to him about his responsibilities.
Bischof let fans in…as much as he could.
“I know that I’m planned for the #6 position, the midfield. But the coach knows that I’m open for everything. If I’m needed on the left or on the right,
I’ll be there. Just like I did last season,” Bischof said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
One thing that is clear after last season is that Bischof just wants to play. Taking advantage of the youngster’s willingness to get on the pitch, Bischof played everywhere in the central midfield and also at left-back and right-back.
Bischof seems to be very motivated after being passed over for a spot with the German national team. If he can maintain that fire and continue to display his technical skills, the midfielder could be one of the breakthrough stars of the season for the Bavarians.
