As we head into the second weekend of July, French striker Randal Kolo Muani is still very much at the forefront of Juventus’ summer transfer activity. And just because it sounds like Paris Saint-Germain are being just as difficult when it comes to their demands and (un)willingness to come down from that as they were last summer, it hasn’t deterred new Juve CEO Giovanni Carnevali to suddenly give up hope of signing the 27-year-old Frenchman.
What does that mean?
Well, it’s easy: another bid for Kolo
Muani is reportedly on the way.
According to reports from the likes of Fabrizio Romano and Nicolo Schira amongst others, Juventus are ready to submit a new — and maybe final? — offer for Kolo Muani. What does that entail, you ask? This is how things break down, according to Schira: Juventus will up the value of their total package to €38 million, with things staying the way they have been in terms of how the deal is structured with a loan and obligation to buy. If those figures prove to be close to what is the actual offer, then that is as close as Juve’s gotten to PSG’s reported €40 million asking price.
And knowing how the Parisians tend to want their price and nothing else — ya know, because they’re so hard up for money these days (or the last decade) — it’s hard to think of much more Carnevali can do to actually secure the services of Kolo Muani once again.
Fact is, as much as PSG may be saying that they are open to all offers for Kolo Muani, the player himself is pretty much giving off the same impression — or at least his agents are through the likes of Romano — as it was a year ago: it’s pretty much Juventus and only Juventus that he wants this summer. It’s the move he’s been holding out for ever since his early weeks on loan during the second half of the 2024-25 season, and still is his top choice even with everything that has happened in between then and now.
Kolo Muani has already reportedly agreed to personal terms with Juventus. But, as this extended negotiations prove, that can only go so far because for PSG, this is trying to recoup as much money as you can from your investment in a player that cost upward of €90 million three years ago.
At this point, it’s just a matter of how much more Juve want to go to make this deal happen. Is this offer going to be the last one? Will PSG actually find a package that’s just slightly under their reported asking price enough to accept and give Kolo Muani what he has wanted for the better part of the last year or more?
Seems like we’re going to find out sooner or later because Juve are inching closer to that asking price, but we just don’t know if they’re going to go much further than that — especially with so much other transfer business (hopefully) still to be done this summer.
