The two hottest teams in Europe, Bayern Munich and Arsenal, will face off in London on Wednesday night. With a combined record of 31W-3D-1L, Bayern and Arsenal have surged to the top of the Champions League betting charts. Both teams can boast a six-point lead in their respective domestic leagues but will need to earn a win to overthrow the other
atop the Champions League table.
In the last five matches, Bayern has earned four wins and one draw against the Londoners. This includes a two-leg elimination in the 2023/24 quarterfinal stage.
Bayern is still the best scoring team in Europe but Arsenal has only conceded in four total games this season, including all clean sheets in the Champions League. With four wins and a +11 goal differential, Arsenal is tied with Bayern for first place in the Champions League group stage table. Technically, Bayern owns the tiebreaker with three more goals scored.
Team News
Here is the predicted lineup, courtesy of BFW:
For the most part, there is not much debatable about this lineup. The back four is set until Alphonso Davies returns. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović are way ahead of Leon Goretzka and Tom Bischof in the central midfield.
Due to his red card in the 2-1 win over PSG, Luis Díaz will be sitting out the first of three matches. This will likely create a shuffle in the attacking midfield. Serge Gnabry is best in the center but will shift outside to allow Michael Olise and Lennart Karl to combine more on the right wing.
The usage of substitutes will be key in grinding out a big win on the road. Goretzka and Bischof are the only players guaranteed to come off the bench. Kim Min-jae could be called upon as a third center-back or an early card slows down Dayot Upamecano or Jonathan Tah.
From an injury standpoint, Bayern will be without the services of Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies. Hiroki Itō had a successful return against Freiburg but is unlikely to be effective against Arsenal.
Spaniard Mikel Arteta has led Arsenal since 2019. Arsenal utilizes a 4-3-3 formation that keeps a compact defensive shell but is masterful in set piece situations. Viktor Gyökeres and Bukayo Saka lead the team with six goals each across all competitions.
