This past weekend was week four in the 2025 college football season, and it leaves us with most teams either a quarter or a full third of the way through their seasons. One of the teams with four games
in the books is our own North Carolina Tar Heels, and…things could be going better. The two good teams that Bill Belichick’s squad has faced so far have both handled them fairly easily, and worrying about where this year and the program in general is headed is far from unwarranted.
However, the Heels are far from the only team in the college football universe, and there are plenty of other interesting stories. This past weekend didn’t provide a lot of wild results, but there was still some games that could shape the rest of this year. Let’s take a look at where the college football world stands in general as we look at the newest AP Top 25 rankings.

Biggest Winners
Indiana got into last year’s College Football Playoff last year in the first year of the expanded edition, but their presence rankled some people who thought either the Hoosiers themselves or their body of work weren’t good enough to make it. Well this year, Indiana is trying to make sure those doubts don’t exist. Over the weekend, Indiana beat the brakes off a ranked Illinois team, crushing them 63-10. The victory moved the Hoosiers up eight spots this year, and they now sit at #11.
Biggest Losers
The Fighting Illini dropped 14 places on the flipside of that loss, which is the biggest drop of the week. Utah isn’t that far behind, going from #16 to unranked after falling to Texas Tech.
