Former Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has published a brief letter on his social media to bid farewell to the club and its fans.
“This professional stage comes to an end, and it has not turned out as we
would have liked. Coaching Real Madrid has been an honor and a responsibility.
I thank the club, the players, and above all the fans and Madridismo for their trust and support. I leave with respect, gratitude, and the pride of having done my best.“
Alonso left the club after just six months. His tenure was a controversial one after he had to endure a power struggle with several players without the support of the board.
