Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka suffered a minor scare at halftime as he was removed from the game after absorbing a strong challenge from RB Leipzig midfielder Nicolas Seiwald. The Austrian was given
a yellow card for the foul and Goretzka ultimately was replace by Joshua Kimmich after the break.
Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau broke the news with this report on X:
Relief for Leon Goretzka: The midfielder only suffered a bruise in #RBLFCB.
Kimmich, of course, came on and had a tremendous showing for the Bavarians. For Goretzka, it was a precaution to leave the game, but he was likely going to exit the match soon there after any way. Now, with Kimmich looking good-to-go, Bayern Munich should have a full slate of midfielders for head coach Vincent Kompany to choose from.
Goretzka’s contract expires in July, so every minute he gets is another chance to impress another club.
